Hectronic expands testing capabilities with new climate chamber

Hectronics has invested in a new climate chamber to expand its testing capacity and reduce waiting times for environmental testing. Climate testing is an essential component of the product verification process at Hectronic, enabling the extension of temperature limits for products and elimination of any substandard boards. The new chamber has a temperature range of +180 C to -42 C and can change temperature at a rate of about 4 C per minute. Hectronics’ expertise in using the chamber allows for the customization of climate tests to meet industry standards and client specifications, providing flexible solutions for their customers.

Our new Climate Chamber

We are expanding our testing capacity by purchasing an additional climate chamber. Environmental testing is included in the qualification of all Hectronics products and in order to reduce the waiting time, we have now ordered an additional climate chamber. The new chamber has a temperature range between +180 C and -42 C and can change temperature at a rate of about 4 C per minute.

Climate testing is an essential component of the product verification process at Hectronic. The testing process can take anywhere from 8 to 60 hours, and in some cases even longer. Temperature testing is a key strategy employed during production to extend the temperature limit for a product beyond that of the specific range for on-board components. The results of functional test conducted within the climate chamber are used to eliminate any substandard boards from production.

Hectronic flexibility in using the climate chamber is notable, as we have the necessary equipment to conduct various tests and troubleshoot without relying on costly and time-consuming testing facilities. Additionally, our products undergo rigorous testing in extreme temperatures relevant to their application, with climate tests customized to meet industry standards and client specifications, leveraging our expertise to provide flexible solutions.

What is a Climate Chamber?

A climate chamber, also known as an environmental chamber or temperature chamber, is a piece of equipment used to test the performance and durability of electronic devices in a controlled environment. This includes exposing the devices to a range of temperatures, humidity levels, and other environmental conditions. The chamber allows developers to simulate different types of weather and temperature conditions, such as extreme heat or cold, to see how the devices perform and identify any potential issues.

Why isclimate testing important?

Climate tests in electronics are important because they help ensure that electronic devices can function properly and reliably in a wide range of environmental conditions. Electronic devices can be affected by temperature, humidity, and other environmental factors, which can cause damage or reduce the performance of the device. By exposing the device to a controlled environment in a climate chamber, our engineers can identify potential issues and design solutions to improve the device’s performance and durability. This can help ensure that the device will function properly and reliably for the end user in different types of weather and temperature conditions. It also helps for certifying the device for its standard compliance and making sure it is safe to use.
