The H6049 Computer-On-Module<\/a>, COM developed by Hectronic<\/a> was placed on the table at the medical device company and plans finally fell into place. H6049 is a ready-made board with the complex parts of the computer design completed and verified. It\u2019s designed to be mounted on a custom-made so-called carrier board with interfaces, functionality and dimensions to meet the requirements perfectly.<\/h5>

En ers\u00e4ttning beh\u00f6vdes f\u00f6r det f\u00f6r\u00e5ldrade PC104-kortet baserat p\u00e5 en X86-processor. F\u00f6retaget hade noga \u00f6verv\u00e4gt alternativen. En COTS-produkt, en standard panel-PC, en helt egen design, intern utveckling och outsourcing var bland alternativen. Samarbetet med Hectronic innebar lite av allt detta.
Datorn \u00e4r inb\u00e4ddad i ett kardiologiinstrument som samlar in data fr\u00e5n en invasiv blodtryckssensor. Instrumenten s\u00e4ljs \u00f6ver hela v\u00e4rlden. Sensorn f\u00f6rs upp genom de stora blodk\u00e4rlen fr\u00e5n ljumsken, genom aorta till hj\u00e4rtats kransk\u00e4rl. Genom att utv\u00e4rdera tryckdata kan l\u00e4karna uppt\u00e4cka och lokalisera omr\u00e5den med tidiga stadier av kransk\u00e4rlsstenos.
S\u00e5dana omr\u00e5den behandlas med perkutan koronarintervention, vilket \u00e4r en grupp behandlingar som innefattar exempelvis att bl\u00e5sa upp en ballong vid k\u00e4rlavsnittet eller att g\u00e5 f\u00f6rbi det med k\u00e4rltransplantat fr\u00e5n andra delar av kroppen.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

A\u00a0COM\u00a0<\/a>is a small computer board containing processor, I\/O hub, memory and additional components. The COM is always mounted on a tailor-made carrier board. A COM is a\u00a0COTS product<\/a>\u00a0which is used in numerous end products of numerous customers. The carrier board is adapted to one particular end product of one individual customer. The semi-custom design balances advantages from the COTS product strategy (complex parts verified and ready to use directly) with the full custom strategy (adaptation to requirements unique to the application).<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

Hectronic developed the carrier board for the medical instrument. Two boards for communication were developed by the customer and so was the mechanics and encapsulation. The application required 8 USB ports. The H6049 COM offers 7 of them and the 8th was accomplished via a USB hub mounted on the carrier board. Additional interfaces in the specification of the carrier board is DVI\/CRT, gigabit ethernet and an SD interface.<\/p>

The prior product generation used a Linux operating system and the customer saw no reason for a change and the plan was to reuse as much as possible of the application software.\u00a0Minor adjustments to the BIOS<\/a>\u00a0for H6049 were made by Hectronic as well as development of a Linux operating system meeting customer requirements. The customer\u2019s software needed adaptations to the GCC 4.4 compiler and to the Qt library. The application uses Qt to implement the user interface. The Linux OS included drivers for the PCAP controller and VGA\/DVI controller among other things.<\/p>

All three are identical which ensures reproduction of errors, identifying the problem and\n\nAnd when it comes to product reliability and production quality we are quite proud actually. 4000 units of the module and carrier board have been produced. 99.8% of the supplied units have worked flawlessly. The medical instrument is certified and sold worldwide.
